Crochet Your Way!
Two of our students recently participated in New Jersey’s STEAM Tank Challenge, a program that encourages students to develop innovative ideas that solve real-world problems through STEAM learning.
Their project, Crochet Your Way, focused on bringing more hands-on, outside-the-box activities to students during indoor recess — especially after all of this year’s snowy days indoors.
Today, they presented their idea to a panel of judges for the second time, and we were so impressed by their thoughtful ideas and presentation skills. Way to go, girls!

The sweetest week in pre-k. Special thank you to Miss MacDonald and her family for hatching baby chicks with us and living happily ever after on her family's farm!

Last night's book talk on The Amazing Generation, by Jonathan Haidt and Catherine Price, was so powerful. Our panel of educators, therapists, and students dove into some of the central messages surrounding technology use and its implications in today's society, specifically drawing on the impact on our children. It's such an important conversation and we were so proud to host at HW Mountz.
Thank you to our PTA for creating opportunities like this for our community. It was great to see so many people come together to better learn how to support this next, amazing, generation.

To our incredible Mountz PTA: thank you for the amazing lunch spread, the fun yard sign, and the generous gift during Teacher Appreciation Week! Your kindness and support mean so much to our teachers.
But the greatest gift of all is the opportunity to teach your wonderful children each day. We are so grateful for the partnership, encouragement, and appreciation you show our teachers all year long.

NJSLA-A Testing Update
Please note:
• Students who are absent on a testing day will be scheduled for a make-up session
• Due to the adaptive nature, if a student misses day 1 of reading or math, they will need to make up day 1 and day 2 sessions during the make-up window.
• We kindly ask that families avoid scheduling appointments or vacations during this time when possible
• Students should come to school well-rested and ready to do their best
We appreciate your support in helping students be present and ready during this time.

Bike to School Day was a great success this morning! Students, families, and staff kicked off the day with a stop at Tom Bailey’s Market for breakfast before riding together to school. A special thank you to the wonderful Spring Lake Police Department for providing a safe escort along the route. With beautiful weather and so much community spirit, it was the perfect way to start the day!

Our 6th grade students had an exciting opportunity to participate in Sea Girt Elementary’s STEAM Convocation, where they collaborated and learned alongside peers from across the sending district. It was a great day filled with creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Thank you to Sea Girt for hosting such a fun and engaging experience for our students!

This week, our 8th graders had the opportunity to step outside the classroom and into our local community for a hands-on learning experience. As part of their Spanish studies, they visited Pick’s Latin Grocery in Belmar, where they practiced their language skills in a real-world setting by requesting items in Spanish.
It was a great way to bring classroom learning to life—building confidence, making authentic connections, and seeing how language can be used beyond school walls. A fun, engaging, and memorable day of learning in action!
