Let’s go, Mountz!

Our amazing PTA is hosting a book talk on The Amazing Generation—a powerful graphic novel that dives into the impact of smartphones and social media on our kids, while also highlighting the incredible power this generation has to rewrite the narrative and take control of their lives.
Though written with students in mind, this book carries important, eye-opening messages for all of us.

HW Mountz Library
This event is open to students in grades 4 and up, parents, and community members—we truly hope to see a full room for what promises to be a meaningful discussion.
Please help us spread the word—this is a conversation worth having.

Our kindergarteners were all smiles during this fun and interactive visit—but the real stars of the show? Penguins in our building! 🐧
Lots of wonder, laughter, and wide-eyed excitement… a day we won’t forget anytime soon! 🌊😊

Our students teamed up to design and build covered wagons in the woodshop, bringing their reading curriculum to life through collaboration and creativity. We love seeing them safely using real tools—saws, vises, and all—while taking hands-on learning to the next level! 🤍

Huge shoutout to our Sunshine Committee for providing a rainbow of treats this St. Patrick’s Day morning! Such a thoughtful (and delicious!) way to start the day—we feel so appreciated! 💚✨

With the sun shining and spring just around the corner, it was the perfect day for active learning. 🌷
Don’t forget—our Open House is tomorrow from 9–11 AM! Come see what makes Mountz such a special place to learn and grow. 💙

Come check it out at our Open House tomorrow, Saturday 3/14 from 9-11! We'd love to see you there.

Students were highly engaged during yesterday’s sending-district convocation, working in teams to design a prosthetic limb from the knee down that a teammate could wear and use to walk 20 feet. It was impressive to see their creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration as they tested ideas and refined their designs throughout the challenge. Thanks to Avon Elementary for hosting!

Today we celebrated our 100th Day of School with big smiles, lots of laughs, and a whole lot of pride. From day 1 to day 100, our students have grown in confidence, kindness, and curiosity—and it shows.
Here’s to 100 days of learning, leading, and loving every minute of it… and we’re just getting started! 💯✨

✨ H.W. Mountz teachers in action!✨
Our awesome staff spent Monday afternoon learning with Kate Sullivan, diving into Opportunities to Respond (OTRs) and other high-impact teaching strategies that keep every student thinking, talking, and actively participating.
These strategies mean more voices heard, more brains engaged, and more moments where students are truly part of the learning. We’re so excited to see these ideas come alive in classrooms and help create powerful, memorable learning experiences for our kids!
