Monday's Board of Education meeting for the Spring Lake School District was one of celebration. Parents, community members, and students were there for a special presentation, put on by a group of fourth grade students, led by their teachers, Mrs. Callahan and Mrs. Smagula. Students were recognized for their writing abilities, their insight into thoughts and feelings, and their oral presentation techniques. Students were invited after participating in a Kindness Rocks Writing activity, an activity that Mrs. Callahan and Mrs. Smagula intentionally build into their lessons on a regular basis. Students are given a variety of writing response cards and are asked to consider and pen their thoughts on social or emotional prompts.
